Application guidelines

The application must be written in English.

General project information

  • Affiliation to WP and CFA and/or NI: Information on the affiliation to a specific Work Package (WP) as well as either one of the Clinical Focus Areas (CFAs) and/or National Infrastructures (NIs) should be given. All applications that do not belong to a WP must apply for admission to be reviewed by the Center management before the applicant can submit an application that can be admitted as a new protocol.
  • Project title: The title of the project, eventually along with a short subtitle, should be given. No length restriction, but keep it short and informative.
  • Abstract: A short abstract in English, which is published on our website in case a grant is obtained. The abstract should maximum be 250 words.
  • Visual abstract: A one page visual abstract can be added to the application. However, it is optional to include the visual abstract.

Applicant(s)

Main applicant information: The main applicant can be a senior principal investigator, but younger researchers, including PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, are also eligible to apply as the main applicant. In such cases, collaboration must be clearly outlined, and a letter of support from the research group should be included. If a PhD student is applying, a recommendation letter and CV from their principal supervisor (the senior principal investigator) must be provided.

  • Name, degree(s), title(s), department(s) and institution(s), phone number, and email address of the main applicant should be given.
  • A short CV, including a maximum of 10 publications, should be uploaded separately as a pdf file of maximum two A4 pages in total.
  • A portrait picture of the main applicant and accompanying declaration of consent should be uploaded to the application. The portrait picture can be in the format of either jpg, png, or gif. The declaration of consent should be uploaded signed and in pdf format.

Co-applicant(s) information: Up to three co-applicants are allowed on the application. If no or fewer than the three possible co-applicants is included, please leave the fields blank.

  • Information including name, degree(s), title(s), department(s) and institution(s), as well as email address of each co-applicant should be given.

Project description

The project description must be prepared beforehand and maximum take up the space of 1600 words, excluding references, tables, figures, and diagrams. The project description must include the following sections to be considered for assessment by the Executive Committee:

  • Scientific background of the project
  • Hypothesis and purpose(s)
  • Method description, including study design, sample size assessment, and endpoint(s)
  • Collaborators (national including national coverage, international, interdisciplinary, NIs)
  • Patient involvement
  • Description of how quality of life and social inequality of the patient is addressed
  • Ethical considerations and how these are addressed
  • Time schedule (milestones)
  • Practical feasibility (workplace and resources)
  • Health economic considerations
  • Clinical and national perspectives

Budget

Please fill out the budget template for the total budget of the project. The total budget should include already obtained funding, planned applications, and an indication of what the applied funds are to be used for. Applied funding at ACROBATIC must be within the same or subsequent year as applied for. The budget template must be converted to pdf before uploading.

After submission of your application

You should receive a confirmation of succesful submission at the mailbox of the provided email shortly after submitting your application. If you do not receive any confirmation, please check your junk mail folder. You will receive an answer on your application as soon after the Executive Committee has evaluated the received applications after the deadline.

When selected for an ACROBATIC grant

Projects selected for an ACROBATIC grant must use the logos of ACROBATIC, Danish Cancer Society, and Danish Comprehensive Cancer Center in all presentations of the research. When using the logos, an acknowledgement phrase should also be used.

Grant recipients are required to use the following logos when presenting Research Projects supported by ACROBATIC. Download the ACROBATIC logo, logo of Danish Cancer Society, and Danish Comprehensive Cancer Center in color below by clicking on it, then right click and select Save image as.

The below phrase should be used when including the contribution of ACROBATIC in the acknowledgement section in scientific manuscripts.
