Research Collaboration Across Surgical Oncology for Better Patient Care
Research
Why do we need a research center within cancer surgery? Traditionally, initiatives and clinical surgical trials only included one or few centers and/or departments, one cancer type, i.e. one Danish Multidisciplinary Cancer Group (DMCG), and no internal sparring.
The aim of the research executed under ACROBATIC is to cure more patients from cancer and improve quality of life following surgical cancer treatment. This is done by gathering Danish cancer surgeons, clinicians, experts, and scientists from associated disciplines with an interest within cancer surgery. More specifically the goal is to:
Make more patients suitable (fit) for surgery
Ensure that cancer patients throughout the country have equal opportunities for surgical procedures performed with optimal and innovative techniques
Strive for a complication-free follow-up
Enable timely postoperative oncological treatment and/or faster return to daily life with as few late effects as possible
Increase life after cancer with the patients as important players
