CFA3 symposium – “Survivorship after cancer surgery”
ACROBATIC held its first symposium within Clinical Focus Area 3 (CFA3) “Survivorship after cancer surgery” at Scandic Bygholm Park on March 23rd through 24th, 2023.
One of the topics at the symposium was circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). NI5 leader and head of center for ctDNA, Claus Lindbjerg Andersen, hosted this first session informing about ctDNA guided follow-up, followed by presentations of projects using this method in different types of cancers from members of ACROBATIC’s Center of Knowledge; Louise Krog (Vulva cancer), Ninna Aggerholm (Sarcoma), Lisbet Rosenkrantz Hölmich (Melanoma), and Mai-Britt Worm Ørntoft (Colorectal cancer).
The remainder of day 1 at the symposium focused on the patient’s wishes for follow-up represented by one ACROBATICs patient representatives, Marianne Nord Hansen (Chairman of Senfølgerforeningen), followed by a session focusing on digital solutions to help the patients. Manager, Klaus Veng, from EMENTO was invited to give insight on the digital care guide, EMENTO, and members of ACROBATIC’s Center of Knowledge presented their projects on establishing digital care guides for the patients.
Day 2 focused on patient tailored follow-up after cancer surgery. Jette Lyngholm, patient representative in ACROBATIC, informed about the “Navigator” offer from the Danish Cancer Society supporting vulnerable cancer patients, which were followed by project presentations on patient tailored follow-up, PRO data, and organ specific late adverse effects, from members of ACROBATIC’s Center of Knowledge. Lena Saltbæk from Sjællands Universitetshospital was invited to talk about their experiences from “Clinic for cancer late adverse effects” in Roskilde.
